Art spaces to revitalize communities

What are Cultural Centers?

The Cultural Centers program transforms vacant houses into artist residencies, where art drives neighborhood revitalization and strengthens community connection in Milwaukee.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We restore vacant houses.

We restore abandoned homes and give them new life, preventing them from becoming sources of neighborhood decline.

We turn them into artist residencies.

We transform each house into a dignified home and a creative space where artists can live, work, and produce their art.

Artists create projects with the community.

Through workshops, murals, and cultural activities, artists strengthen neighborhood connections and revitalize community life.

PILOT HOMES 2026

Starting in July 2026, these homes will open their doors to artists and communities.
